Our Enchanting Stay in Bergwelt Grindelwald, a Swiss Alps Mountain View Hotel

Nestled among the majestic peaks of the Swiss Eiger lies a true gem: a romantic hotel that promises not just accommodation, but an unforgettable experience. Our recent getaway to this picturesque place was nothing short of enchanting, offering us a respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and a chance to reconnect amidst nature’s grandeur.

Home away from home

It wasn’t our first time staying here, so when we arrived at the hotel, it immediately felt like coming home. We knew where we had to be, and the warm welcome from the staff instantly reminded us why we love it here so much. Everyone around here is just so friendly and helpful. We have never met such an incredible team as they have here.

Eiger view room

Stepping into our room here always feels like entering a cocoon of luxury and comfort. The spacious room with elegant décor, a huge walk-in shower, and large windows running from floor to ceiling, covering the whole width of the room, is literally a dream. The highlight for us here is definitely the balcony from where the snow-capped peaks of the Eiger can be witnessed. We have spent countless hours just watching the endless mountain views.

Delightful cuisine

Our culinary journey at the hotel was a gastronomic delight, with each meal showcasing the finest Swiss cuisine made from locally sourced ingredients, but mostly prepared with lots of love and passion by the chefs.

The breakfast buffet is always so extensive. From freshly baked bread, artisanal fresh cuts and cheeses, to diverse smoothies and incredible granola and sweets selections. Not to forget about the freshly baked eggs, for which the chef always does his utmost to make them just the way you like.

We even got to enjoy breakfast in the room, which was just beyond expectations. We were surprised with so much more than asked for in order for us to really enjoy all the hotel has to offer. This, accompanied by the incredible Eiger view, was just divine.

At night we enjoyed candlelit dinners in all the different restaurants. BG’s, the Pinte, and Almer’s fondue which were each so unique. Everything was always so well taken care of. Every bite we took literally represented the culinary expertise of the hotel’s chefs.

Skiing in the Jungfrau region

Our annual winter trip, of course, isn’t complete without spending some time on the slopes. The hotel has its own heated ski locker room where you can store all your gear and get ready to hit the slopes every day easily.

The Jungfrau region has some incredible slopes that can take you on runs for hours. It’s also a great region for touring skiing. You can head to Grindelwald first by just walking out of the hotel to your left or you can take the bus just in front of the hotel which takes you in only a few stops to the Eiger Express and Männlichenbahn. From there, you can even ski to some other villages like Kleine Scheidegg, Wengen, and Mürren. You can even ski down to see the famous village of Lauterbrunnen!

Not into skiing? Or just not a winter fan? No worries. The Jungfrau region has you covered as it also offers some incredible hiking, walking, and cycling trails. For thrill-seekers, there can even be done ziplining and paragliding. There are endless possibilities over here.

Top of Europe

Nestled in the heart of the Swiss Alps, the Top of Europe, also known as Jungfraujoch, is a true marvel of natural beauty one just has to see. Located at an altitude of 3,463 meters, this iconic spot offers such an unparalleled experience high above the clouds.

You can reach the summit by train or by gondola and train. At the summit, you can visit the observation deck from where you will be greeted by a panorama of snowy peaks, glaciers, and azure skies stretching as far as the eye can see. It’s a moment that takes your breath away and leaves an indelible imprint on your memory. A true highlight of any Swiss adventure.

But Top of Europe isn’t just an observatory deck and the highest point of Europe. It is a one-of-a-kind experience that even has its own ice palace and Lindt chocolate shop.

More relaxation ahead at Fire & Ice Spa

No relaxed getaway would be complete without a bit of pampering, and the hotel’s wellness facilities did not disappoint. Relaxing sessions in the sauna and steam room followed by a dip in the heated outdoor pool surrounded by the crisp mountain air made us completely unwind and recharge for the next day’s adventures.

We even enjoyed a Fire & Ice Night deluxe where we were able to enjoy all of this luxury with just the two of us.
